In celebration of Mother’s Day, we meet three mums balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship as full-time or part-time Turo hosts.
Valerie

Valerie has been a host on Turo for seven years and has two children, aged three and eight.
I first started hosting as a side hustle to earn extra money alongside my day job. My knowledge of cars and background in customer service made it a perfect fit. Back then, I never expected it to grow to the point where I could leave my day job and work on Turo full-time. Now, I have a portfolio of 18 cars.
Turo has had a substantial financial impact on my life. It has allowed us to go on several family holidays, and it’s rewarding to know that my kids can see the fruits of my labour.
Balancing work and family hasn’t always been easy. However, transitioning from my day job to working from home gave me a lot more freedom to spend quality time with my family, which was a significant game-changer. My kids love to help me get the cars ready for guests, whether it’s a trip to the car wash or visiting our mechanic (who always gives them treats!) they have a great time. My eight-year-old son is a car enthusiast and loves jumping in and out of the various cars in our portfolio.
I highly recommend hosting to any mum. Start with one car and try to expand from there. If you provide excellent service, you’ll always have repeat guests and get glowing ratings. I also believe guests love to rent from mums like me on Turo because we understand the chaos of life. We offer flexibility for changing plans, patience if you’re running late, and a clean, reliable car to ensure the experience is comfortable and hassle-free.
Vendula

Vendula, a mother of one and business analyst, lives in Stockport and started hosting on Turo to transform her approach to work and motherhood.
After searching for extra income, I discovered Turo while looking into online opportunities and began hosting in 2023.
Hosting has allowed me to offset the monthly costs of vehicle ownership around my work-from-home schedule and motherhood. I enjoy meeting and interacting with my guests. By prioritising customer service, I’ve earned five-star reviews and repeat guests, which has helped me become an All-Star Host — one of the top-rated and most experienced hosts on Turo.
Through hosting on Turo, I’ve eased my financial struggles and I love how it’s allowed me to build some meaningful connections with my guests. I balance my professional life while being the mother I aspire to be, proving that determination can help manage work and family life.
I love how easy it is to set up a car sharing business on Turo. If you have your car, it’s so simple. You take a few photos, create a decent listing, and then rent something you already have.
Zeynep

Zeynep, a former Turkish lawyer, has embraced a new way of life in the UK. After moving six years ago, she found herself on an unexpected journey on Turo, leading to flexibility around her family and entrepreneurship.
When I turned 40, I decided to pivot my career. Spending more time with my daughter became my top priority, prompting me to look for work that would allow me to achieve a better balance. During this transition, I discovered Turo when I booked a Tesla as a guest after my family moved to the UK.
I launched my Turo business in May 2024, and it has blossomed into a thriving side business. The summer months have been particularly impressive, bringing in strong earnings, while even the quieter periods still provide a steady income. I’m excited to expand my portfolio and keep the momentum going.
The Turo community has intrigued other mothers from my daughter’s school, especially those working from home. The flexibility of setting pick-up and drop-off times makes it an attractive option for parents like me, who are looking to earn extra money from an idle asset while managing family responsibilities and deciding when to make a car available for booking around our commitments.
