The first UK Host Summit was the biggest Turo host gathering the UK has ever seen. Held at Plexal in London on Friday 26 September, it kicked off late in the afternoon and rolled into the evening with a packed lineup of presentations, conversations, and connections.

The buzz in the room set the tone for a milestone moment, with Turo’s CEO Andre Haddad flying in and a Power Host joining from the US  to share her playbook.

Whether you were there and want to revisit the big moments or are catching up from afar, this recap covers the highlights.

How to host with confidence

Trust and safety sit at the core of vehicle security. James from the UK Trust & Safety team shared stories from the road and simple steps that make a big difference. One of the clearest takeaways was about trackers. They help recover cars quickly if something goes wrong, discourage risky behaviour, and give hosts extra reassurance.

As of 2025, trackers are required for higher-value cars under the UK tracker policy. This is designed to protect both hosts and guests. Even if your car falls below that threshold, a tracker is worth considering. It means less stress, and stronger protection for your vehicles.

“When we look at thefts across the UK, there’s a recovery rate of 40%. That’s with and without trackers. But our partners Trak Global, they operate at a 95% recovery rate for vehicles that have hard wired devices.*” James, UK Senior Trust & Safety Investigator

Personalised advice that made a difference

Hosts had the chance to chat with Host Success experts for tailored guidance. These conversations answer the real questions that come up every day, from how to optimise for more bookings with better photos to fine-tuning pricing strategies, getting more reviews, and building guest loyalty.

For newer hosts, it was a chance to build confidence in the basics. For more experienced hosts, the focus was on scaling up portfolios, managing finances, and finding ways to make hosting more efficient. Many hosts said the one-to-one time was one of the most valuable parts of the summit because it meant leaving with advice they could put into practice immediately.

Power Host panel: advice from the pros

The Power Host panel was one of the most talked-about sessions of the summit. Kasandra, who travelled from the US, joined Chris and Elisha to share their playbook for success. Their advice was rooted in years of experience, covering what works, what doesn’t, and the lessons they wished they had learned sooner.

The conversation spanned everything from creating a five-star experience to managing a large portfolio. They discussed the importance of personal touches, the value of clear communication, and how to strike a balance between flexibility and protecting your time.

Hosts left the session with practical tips they could put into action right away, whether they were just starting out or managing multiple vehicles. It was also a reminder that there is no single formula for success, but sharing real stories and strategies makes the path clearer for everyone.

“I love all my guests, even the ones that I don’t know yet, kindness goes a long way.” – Kasandra, Power Host

“Consistency is everything. Treat every guest like your best guest, and you’ll start to see repeat bookings.” – Elisha, Power Host

Smart technology that saves time

Innovation was also on show at the summit, with the team from 2hire introducing Linkey, their smart access device. Linkey allows guests to unlock cars with a simple tap on their phone, removing the need for key handovers or waiting around.

For hosts, this means less time tied up in logistics and more flexibility to manage multiple vehicles or bookings simultaneously. It also opens up opportunities for remote hosting, giving the option to run a professional, streamlined operation without always needing to be there in person.

For guests, the experience feels intuitive and modern. It is the kind of friction-free access they already expect in other parts of travel. The message was clear: small technology shifts like this can save time, reduce hassle, and help hosts deliver a slicker, more competitive service.

How Turo is bringing you more guests

The Marketing team pulled back the curtain on how Turo is bringing more guests to the platform. They talked about the role of social media campaigns, press and PR activity, and partnerships that boost visibility.

A significant focus is on reaching our best guests, who place high-value bookings, often for longer trips, and are less likely to have a claim or incident. Many of these guests are international travellers booking from airports, so targeting them means more reliable, higher-quality trips for hosts.

Check your listing to make sure it is set up to attract the best guests: highlight airport pick-up, show off longer trip availability, and keep your calendar up to date.

What’s next for hosting with Turo

The summit closed with a keynote from Turo CEO Andre Haddad, marking the first time he had spoken in person at a UK host event. His session looked beyond the day-to-day and set out a bigger picture for the future of Turo and mobility.

He explained how investments in technology and support will make hosting simpler and safer, while ongoing marketing and partnerships will bring in more high-quality guests from the UK and abroad. He also emphasised that hosts will continue to shape how Turo grows in the UK, with feedback from the community directly influencing product development.

The live Q&A gave hosts the chance to pitch questions straight to Andre. Topics ranged from new product features and improving airport hosting to long-term strategy for growth in Europe. It was a rare opportunity to hear directly from Turo’s CEO and engage in an open conversation about the platform’s future.

“It’s great to see that every time there’s a Turo summit or Turo event, it keeps getting bigger and better, and I think this one’s the best so far. Especially with the global CEO coming over here to speak to us.” – Karan, UK host
