We’re delighted to announce our formal partnership with Dream Foundation, the only national dream-granting organization for terminally ill adults, to fulfill lifelong Dreams together. Since January 2019, Turo hosts have played a part in fulfilling many Dreams by providing cars for 30 Dream recipients to travel locally with family members and friends.
Dream Foundation serves terminally ill adults and their families by fulfilling end-of-life Dreams that offer inspiration, comfort, and closure. With the help of their nationwide community of volunteers, Dream Foundation has been able to connect people and make memories for over 32,000 Dreams over the last 26 years — a wonderful mission that Turo fully supports.
When the coronavirus put a damper on travel all around the world, Turo and Dream Foundation unfortunately had to pause fulfilling travel-related Dreams. Recently, as hotels and restaurants have begun to reopen, Dream Foundation has started organizing road trips closer to home for Dream recipients and their families. Likewise, Turo has adjusted to a changing world, and is committed to promoting cleanliness in today’s new normal. We’re thrilled to share that these adjustments have allowed us to continue arranging safe transportation for Dream recipients.
The gift of wheels
“At least 60 percent of Dream requests involve travel of some kind. The pandemic and related travel restrictions have been tremendously difficult for everyone,” says Dream Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Kisa Heyer. “Dream recipients can’t put their Dreams on hold as they don’t have the luxury of time. So we are truly thrilled to be able to fulfill Dreams involving travel once more, at least within home states or to neighboring states. And we are delighted to welcome back Turo as a Presenting Partner as they offer a much-needed travel option, making this renewed partnership all the more important and timely.”
How to get involved
Turo is honored to work with such an amazing cause and is thrilled to introduce our community of over 14 million to Dream Foundation. Turo hosts can help provide cars and even donate trips to Dream recipients in need of transportation.
