Guten tag, Deutschland!

Today, we’re overjoyed to announce Turo’s launch in Germany! Following our peer-to-peer launch in Canada in April 2016 and the UK in December 2016 with local, independent car rental agencies, Germany marks our third international launch, bringing us even closer to putting the world’s one billion cars to better use. Over the past four months alone, we’ve had over a million new people join the Turo community and Turo Canada has grown rapidly — faster than the US — to reach 275,000 community members in less than two years. This makes us confident that now is the right time to expand to new parts of the world.

In fact, we expect 2018 to be a big year, not just for Turo, but for our German hosts. Our business has proven that hosting on Turo is a tremendously valuable way to offset the costs of car ownership, and the entrepreneurial flame burns strongly in Germany. To reach our goal of leading German car sharing by the end of the year, we’re letting hosts use the Turo marketplace for free! Hosts who list their cars in Germany will keep 100% of their earnings for all trips through July 22, 2018.*

As we launch in Germany, we’re grateful to have Daimler as our partner and investor, backing our mission and sharing their wealth of expertise as we forge our path into this rich automotive market. Their CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric) division demonstrates how attuned they are to the cultural forces impacting the automotive world, particularly with regard to the sharing economy, and we are honored to join their visionary portfolio of partners.

As part of Daimler’s partnership with Turo, Turo has acquired Croove, the German peer-to-peer car sharing marketplace, and today Croove is rebranded as Turo Germany. Since Croove had a model similar to Turo’s, we have a great starting point for bringing the convenience, value, personal touch, and great variety of cars on Turo to a vibrant new European destination.

Additionally we’re very proud to have the world-class insurer Allianz partnering with Turo to provide guests and hosts in Germany with the protection and flexible coverage packages that our community values.

Finally, we’re pleased to have Marcus Riecke leading our dynamic team on the ground in Berlin. He comes to Turo with over 25 years of experience in consumer internet, including leadership roles at eBay.

With a passion for driving and a strong automotive heritage, Germany promises to be an enthralling market and one that positions Turo for a broader presence across Europe. It’s with great excitement that we’re launching Turo Germany, and we hope you’ll join us in hitting the Autobahn to explore the bewitching wonders Germany has to offer!
