Leveraging AI to find the perfect car
Last Friday, Turo became the first car sharing or car rental company to launch a ChatGPT (GPT-4) plugin, built on OpenAI. ChatGPT, the industry-leading natural-language AI system from OpenAI, has been dominating headlines for the last several months with its revolutionary artificial intelligence system, so the innovative data scientists and engineers at Turo jumped at the opportunity to leverage this powerful technology to create an even more convenient and seamless car booking experience on Turo. Turo is among 70 other pioneering companies who built third-party plugins on OpenAI since they were introduced in late March.
ChatGPT Plus subscribers who have the Turo GPT-4 plugin enabled can tell GPT-4 about their travel plans, like desired vehicle type, location, and price, and GPT-4 will dive into Turo’s extraordinary selection — over 320,000 active vehicles made up of over 1,400 makes and models* — to provide personalized car recommendations. For example, you can simply say, “I’m going on a trip with a few friends to Tahoe and need an SUV in San Francisco from June 1 to 10. What do you recommend I book on Turo?” The Turo GPT-4 plugin will then respond with a personalized list of recommended vehicles that match your criteria.
Please note that OpenAI is currently rolling out the ability for ChatGPT Plus paid subscribers to access the plugins marketplace; the Turo GPT-4 plugin is not available to free users. For ChatGPT Plus subscribers, go into your settings, enable the plugins marketplace under “Beta features”, and then install the Turo plugin from the plugin store.
