Test drive the 2021 Bronco yourself

The 2021 Ford Bronco is the most hotly anticipated car of the year. The legendary 4×4’s revived nameplate garnered close to 200,000 pre-orders before a single example hit the street. But now, you can find the new Bronco out on the streets, as well as on Turo!

The smaller Bronco Sport has been out for over half a year, but the proper new Bronco is the talk of the town right now. There are huge waiting lists at Ford dealerships for this truck — if you order one now, you may have to wait up to two years to have it in your driveway.

The Jeep Wrangler has thrived without true direct competition for decades, but Ford has taken a good look at the Wrangler and one-upped it wherever they could to create a do-everything 4×4 SUV that’ll be a hit with casual SUV customers and hardcore off-roaders alike.

To most, Ford has really hit it out of the park with the Bronco’s boxy design. It manages to capture the nostalgia of the Broncos of old while incorporating distinctive modern touches. Turo host Kyrylo is the owner of the first new Bronco on Turo, in the Miami area. While the Bronco lineup is very much geared towards off-road capability, this is an “Outer Banks” model, which is the third-priciest of the Bronco’s six trim levels and is billed as the luxury/comfort version.

This truck is powered by a 2.3L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 300 horsepower, but the Bronco can also be had with a 330-horsepower 2.7L turbocharged V6. All four doors are removable, as are the roof panels on hard-top versions. Kyrylo’s 2021 Bronco has the soft-top roof, which retracts with the undoing of a few clips and folds all the way to stack on the back, and of course you can remove it altogether if you desire.

Thanks to the boxy shape, the Bronco boasts a huge and very practical rear cargo area. Inside you’ll find no fancy stitching, piano black surfaces, or anything delicate. Every inch is covered in durable rubber and plastic, rugged grab handles abound, and exposed screws hold panels in place (the screws even say “Bronco” on them!). It even comes with programmable auxiliary switches for the modification crowd’s light bars and winches and such.

As with most modern cars, the Bronco’s got everything you’ll reasonably need in terms of tech and features. The main trick is the “G.O.A.T. mode” selector, which tailors the traction system to cope with different surfaces like snow and mud (please keep in mind, driving off-road with any vehicle booked on Turo is prohibited).

If you’re in the market for a new SUV and are willing to wait a while, the base 2021 Bronco starts below $30,000 and top trims can go over 60 grand. Until then, you can give the new Bronco a whirl by booking one right here on Turo — Kyrylo listed the first one on the marketplace, but new Broncos are fast appearing all over the country!
