Instant mobility has arrived
Today, we are very excited to announce the launch of Turo Go, a revolutionary new feature that allows guests to book, locate, and instantly unlock cars right from the Turo app. Starting today, Turo Go is available in the greater Los Angeles area and will expand to additional markets in the coming months!
The Turo marketplace is evolving every day, with an eye to continue to grow the car sharing community and advance the shared mobility experience. In today’s hyper-connected world, people have come to expect the on-demand mobility afforded by accelerating and ubiquitous connectivity. Turo Go remote unlocking technology is our next step to work with connected car technology and streamline the Turo experience.
How Turo Go works
Turo Go integrates the Turo app with hardware installed in a host’s vehicle, allowing for instant and secure accessibility. Anytime you need to get on the road, you can book a nearby car, locate it through GPS guidance, and unlock it with the Turo app — without having to arrange an in-person meeting.
With Turo Go, guests have the freedom to choose an on-demand booking experience and jump behind the wheel whenever they need to. This freedom extends also to hosts, who have the option to share their cars even when they aren’t available to meet guests in person.
The increased availability will help boost hosts’ earnings while the effortless remote process frees them up to go about their busy lives — Turo pre-approves guests for Turo Go so hosts no longer have to check their licenses before each trip.
Turo Go is just the latest option for accessing cars on Turo. Many people, both guests and hosts, still value the personal experience of meeting in person for the key handoff. Delivery to a custom location has also always been very popular with guests, and hosts are happy to provide that service — well over half of all cars on Turo offer delivery. Now, Turo Go provides yet another convenient experience that allows guests to book cars on-demand and gain instant access when they need it.
Industry-leading keyless entry
From the beginning stages of developing Turo Go, our goal was to provide our community with the best keyless entry system on the market. We’re excited to announce we’ve partnered with Continental, a leader in automotive access technologies, to develop a Turo Go experience that is both seamless for guests and secure for hosts’ cars.
Leveraging Continental’s state-of-the-art remote unlock technology, Turo Go addresses issues that other car sharing platforms have had with keyless entry systems. The Turo Go hardware device has a quick and safe installation, simply plugging into the car’s diagnostic port — no cutting wires, no hacks, and no impact on the vehicle’s warranty.
Turo Go is fine-tuned to maximize the device’s battery life and uses Bluetooth connection to enable hosts and guests to unlock from the app without a constant cellular connection. And for push-to-start cars, Turo Go is a completely keyless experience and requires only the Turo app to use!
