Summer is here, and there’s no better time of year for a Sunday drive. But sometimes it’s not so enticing to get behind the wheel. If your car is getting long-in-the-tooth, or you’re just ready for something a little fresher, summer is also a great time to buy a new car. And lucky for you, some of the best deals of the year roll around on Fourth of July weekend.

As far back as the 1950s, car dealerships have rolled out the red carpet to display new models and epic savings in the summer sun. With an extra day (or two!) off work, you’ve got no excuse for not making it down to the lot to give that car you’ve been eyeing a test drive. Or, rent that car for a day or two and see how it is to live with. Here are some of the best deals for 2017.

Ford’s military honor program

Even though it’s not Veteran’s day, the Fourth of July is still an important time to recognize the hard work and sacrifice of our armed services. The big three American automakers all offer bonus incentives for active Military members. Ford’s promotion this year gives veterans and active military members $500 in appreciation cash off their vehicle purchase.

Volvo’s summer sales event

Volvo isn’t an American brand, but it is all about safety. This summer, Volvo appears to be very interested in making sure your bank account stays safe. The Midsommar savings event might be spelled like something you’d pick up at Ikea, but, for a potential $4,500 in savings, they can call it anything they want.

Volvo is making some very attractive new models these days including the new XC90, which features cutting-edge looks and technology.

Acura making moves in the SUV market

The last few years have been challenging for Acura, but, in 2017, they’ve delivered some refreshed offerings. Acura has excellent base material to work with in the form of Honda — Acura is Honda’s luxury marque — and one great example is the compact RDX SUV. Based on the segment-leading CR-V, the RDX gets extra power and interior amenities. This holiday, you can get one at a very low 0.9% APR for 24-36 months.

Keep it red, white, and blue in a Corvette

If there’s a car that screams Fourth of July, it’s the Chevrolet Corvette. Corvette sales have been strong since the car’s 2014 redesign, but, at the moment, dealer stockpiles of the new Stingray car are high. This means an opportunity for dealers to show their American pride by slashing prices on America’s sports car. Check out dealerships near you to find the best deals on a C7.

Or save on a Malibu if you’re feeling more laid-back

Perhaps you’re not excited by the prospect of triple-digit speeds. Maybe you’ve got kids and a two-seater doesn’t work for you, or you don’t want to contend with the fuel consumption of a fire-breathing Corvette V8. The Malibu offers two more doors, three more seats, outstanding interior amenities and a modest fuel bill, and it’s one of the best deals for Summer 2017.

You can find these at up to 20% off, so plot a course to your local Chevy dealer and check one out!

Toyota trucks on rare discount

If you’ve ever searched a used car lot looking for a clean Tacoma, Tundra, or 4-Runner, you know how well Toyota trucks hold their value. For this reason, you don’t often see them offered below MSRP, but this Fourth of July, you can make your move and get a great deal on a brand new Toyota.

Full-size buyers can find the Tundra offered with $1,250 in cash back, and, as for the Tacoma, it’s being offered with payments below $300.

Das discount on das auto

Volkswagen has some face to save in the wake of the Dieselgate scandal, but, if you’re looking to purchase a gas-powered VW, that’s a good thing — the Jetta, Passat, and Golf are all solid performers. Even more attractive is the prospect of getting one for up to $2,100 off with financing as low as 0.9% for 72 months.

Get $3,750 off a Dodge Charger or $3,250 off a Challenger

The new Charger combines the pedigree of American muscle with four doors and more practicality than you probably thought possible. Until the date on your calendar shows July 5, you can get nearly four grand off one of these attractive sedans, complete with all-wheel-drive.

Looking for something more sporting? Take a ride in the 2017 Challenger, a car that brings the long-hood and short rear of classic muscle cars back to modern motoring. It also features Dodge’s celebrated Pentastar V6 and a standard automatic transmission.

Kia brings some Soul to your summer

Ten years ago, Korean automakers didn’t have a leg to stand on. Times have changed. With forward-looking designs that take cues from industry leaders, reliable engineering, and bulletproof warranty packages, you’d be foolish not to at least consider Kia if you’re looking for a car.

During the Fourth of July weekend, you can get into a Forte, Optima, Soul, or Sorento for a great price. You’ll receive $1,000 cash back plus no payments for five months.

What’s more patriotic than a Patriot?

Jeep’s first-generation Patriot was less than desirable because of a few quality issues, but the Fiat-owned member of the big three has turned this compact model around with the latest version. Featuring Jeep’s famous four-wheel drive system, Jeep is offering discounts on Patriots that apply to all trim levels.

Pick a base-model Sport or upgrade to the High-Altitude package for even more capable off-roading and added interior amenities. This July Fourth, you can get 0% APR for 72 months with up to $3,750 cash back.

That’s a lot of choices, everything from sports cars to SUVs and crossovers. These aren’t all the deals that are out there, but they’re some of the best. If you’ve been waiting for the time to buy, get out there this Fourth of July and take advantage of all the deals.
