A few of our favorite things

As the year comes to an end, here’s a look back at some of the amazing vehicles that have been added to the Turo marketplace in 2017. The variety of cars that our hosts are sharing has never been wider or more awesome. To give a taste of the possibilities, a handful of us insiders here on the staff have chosen our favorite listings. Which is your favorite?

Kris’ 1966 Ford Shelby Cobra

ANDRE HADDAD — CEO

Yes, it’s only a replica, but it looks and drives great. This replica Shelby Cobra has a monster 8-cylinder engine in a super tiny body. You’ll be directly connected to the road and weather conditions and rediscover why driving a stick is the real deal.

Kent’s 2008 Jaguar F-Type S

PUSHKAR MODI — DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

Thinking back across 2017 and of all the cars I’ve driven this year on Turo, the most unforgettable is the Jaguar F-Type S. Every trip in that car is sure to be an occasion because of the burbles and grunts the engine relentlessly produces. And it is absolutely gorgeous to look at.

Like I said when I blogged about it: “If driving a Model S is the equivalent of flying business class in a modern airplane, driving an F-Type is the equivalent of jumping out of that airplane — it’s simply more exciting.”

Get moves like Jagger

Tyler’s 2009 Nissan GT-R

MIKE DICICCO — SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

I’ve always been about the exciting but less mainstream cars — Porsche and Ferrari make great cars, but everyone knows them. The GT-R is a real car person’s car. Most people on the street don’t understand its history. Also, it’s a car that might just fit inside a normal person’s world. It’s something I could realistically own and drive regularly.

Sang’s 2011 Cadillac Escalade ESV

MICHELLE PEACOCK — VP, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS

I love that this car looks armored… even though it isn’t. I would love to drive it around Washington, D.C. like a Secret Service agent on a mission. And after a hard day protecting America I could easily hit the golf course by the Potomac for a quick round before heading home!

Kendell’s 2017 Tesla Model X

CEDRIC MATHIEU — DIRECTOR, CANADA

Kendell is one of the most active hosts in Canada – his fleet of high-end vehicles combined with his high standards for service & communication hit the sweet spot for sophisticated travelers in the Greater Toronto Area. The Model X is one of his latest additions to the platform, and at this price point, it’s a must-rent!

Toot around in a Tesla

Oliviero’s 1983 Jeep CJ-7

STEVEN PEREZ, EDITORIAL ASSISTANT

The Jeep CJ is the original civilian 4×4 and, like the Wrangler after it, an unmistakable American icon. This ’83 CJ-7 has been tastefully upgraded and just looks fantastic. As a Jeep owner, I am perhaps a little biased. But how can you not love this thing?
