Take a break with these pretty pictures
Every few Fridays, we like to bring you moments of zen in the form of some of our favorite motorcars from around the Turo marketplace. Let’s keep the fun going. We like cars, you like cars, so let’s look at some cars.
Here’s a pedigree sports car that looks exotic even at 10 years old. Lotus specializes in enthusiast-favorite, highly capable sports cars, and Theo’s 2013 Lotus Evora S in the Melbourne area is a classic example of their work. The Evora has been Lotus’s mid-level model since 2010, slotting between the celebrated Elise and higher-end Exige in terms of pricing. Unusually, this is a mid-engined sports car with a 2+2 seating arrangement, though the rear seats are best suited for (very) small children.
This Evora is powered by a Toyota-sourced 3.5L supercharged V6 that makes 345 horsepower — a solid figure for such a lightweight car. Theo’s Evora is driven with an automatic transmission and paddle shifters, possibly to the dismay of some enthusiasts, but this means just about anyone can get a taste of the car’s special performance with relative ease.
The Evora was discontinued a couple years ago. The next new Lotus model on sale is the electric hypercar Evija, a $2-million spaceship that will lead the way for Lotus to transition their entire roster to battery power. So while cars like Theo’s Evora are going away, you can still experience the magic of a traditional Lotus sports car right here on Turo.
