More miles, more style, no gas required
Some of the grandest adventures require a truck bed, but that doesn’t mean you need to compromise on style or fuel efficiency. Whether it’s for hauling furniture, skis, or tailgate essentials, the Chevrolet Silverado EV packs ample capability and comfort in a redesigned, all-electric package. This brand new pickup offers Cincinnati-to-D.C. range and spacious legroom for all passengers, a rare treat for a pickup. Let’s take a closer look at the February car of the month, EVentures’ 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV 3WT.

Not every electric car is as glitzy as the Tesla Cybertruck or is a near dupe of its gas-powered sibling like the BMW i4. Instead, the Silverado EV takes the well-known nameplate and introduces a dual-motor, all-electric drivetrain in a completely refreshed build from the ground up. The Silverado first debuted as a premium trim for Chevy trucks in the 1970s, with its name symbolizing the model’s importance to the brand much like silver mining fueled a booming economy in the US west. This EV variant sparks the next evolutionary step for GM’s flagship truck, so Chevy engineers didn’t hold back in designing a pragmatic, yet stirring electric pickup.
The Silverado EV shares its huge 170 kWh Ultium battery with other GM electric trucks like the HUMMER EV and Cadillac Escalade IQ. This mega battery size produces up to 393 miles of range, and other Silverado EV trims can reach up to 460 miles, which is only superseded by the industry-topping Lucid Air Grand Touring. Even with this heavy battery, EVentures’ Silverado EV 3WT can reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds with 510 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque. This intense torque is paired with a four-wheel-drive system, providing nearly instantaneous power to every corner of the car.

The Silverado EV has polished swagger with distinctive styling over the gas-powered Silverado. EVentures’ blacked-out 3WT is a “Work Truck” trim, mixing everyday practicality with comfort. It’s shaped similarly to its heavy duty sibling, the GMC Sierra EV, with a sloping roofline and long stature, and it proudly adds Chevy bowtie badging and plastic body cladding to protect the paint. Other Silverado trims can wear up to 24-inch wheels and a sweeping front light bar similar to the Rivian R1T.
With its versatile bed, the truck can fit items up to about 10 feet long and 71 inches wide. The Silverado EV can also tow up to 10,000 lbs and has bidirectional power sources in the bed, perfect for tailgating, camping, or setting up a mobile workstation. It also shows off GM’s head-turning features like four-wheel steering and sidewinder mode. These premium add-ons enable all of the tires to move independently or diagonally at low speeds to crab walk out of a parallel parking space or through tricky gridlock.
Inside EVentures’ spec, you’ll find an all-black interior with leather seats and two screens for the dashboard and central display. Similar to Tesla, the truck starts once you close the driver door and press the brake pedal — hands-free as long as the fob is inside the vehicle. Every Silverado EV has Chevy’s suite of driver assistance technology like adaptive cruise control and front pedestrian braking. But, the premium trims also equip SuperCruise — Chevy’s answer to Tesla’s full self-driving mode that features supervised, yet hands-free driving on main thoroughfares.

While momentum for EVs has slowed in recent months, GM hopes to reduce range anxiety with class-leading mileage and fast charging capability. The reliability of public charging infrastructure may still lag behind demand, but automakers are rapidly improving battery range in models like the Silverado EV. With nearly 400 miles of range, the 3WT trim wouldn’t need a charge on six hour road trips like between LA and Phoenix.
Chevy’s Silverado EV is an attractive workhorse, positioned to play with the Ford F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T, but with bigger range, exceptionally quick charging, and cool dance moves in tight spaces. Its subtle, modern appearance keeps this electric truck stealthy amongst aluminum clad competitors. You can book the EVentures’ electrified Silverado for your next great adventure in the Cincinnati area.
