An SUV that packs all your favorite cars into one

The sport utility vehicle has come a long way since the days of rebodied trucks with an extra row of seats. In this day and age, you can get virtually anything and everything in an SUV. Whether it’s the ride height for extra visibility, the comfortable suspension, or even the sleek lines of a coupe, there’s an SUV for everyone. But what if you want all of that together in one very contemporary package? That’s what you get with Austin’s 2020 Audi Q8, our car of the month for December 2020.

The Q8 is without a doubt a vehicle for the modern era. Despite the SUV physique, the flagship Audi crossover still looks athletic and sleek even when standing still. Austin’s Q8 takes things a few steps further though thanks to the healthy options list. The S-Line and Black Optics packages add subtle exterior enhancements, but it’s the Dragon Orange paint that really sets the stage and makes the Q8 stand out from the crowd.

Once the sun goes down, the exterior LED lighting gives the crossover coupe a distinct signature not to be mistaken for any other vehicle on the road. With striking siblings sharing its underpinnings, such as the Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini Urus, it’s no wonder Audi pulled out all the stops when they designed the Q8.

Under the hood of the big Audi is a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 producing a healthy 355 horsepower, but more importantly, 370 lb-ft of torque available right off idle. Like many Audi products, Austin’s Q8 utilizes the famed Quattro all-wheel drive system, which means inclement weather becomes nothing more than a change of scenery. The optional 22-inch wheels fill out the fenders nicely and the 285mm wide tires make sure there’s no shortage of grip in the Q8 once the pavement heats up.

If you’re into the latest tech, Austin’s Q8 is packed full of it and sure to impress. From the driver’s seat, the dual stack of touchscreens is a modern approach to interior controls without overloading the center console with too many buttons and switches. The technology also makes its way into the safety department, as the Q8 comes standard with automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning.

While the Q8 may be on the cutting edge with its tech gizmos, Audi still prides itself on producing luxurious automobiles, and the Q8 leads by example. The black leather upholstery adds an upscale feel to the interior, and both rows of seats are treated to heated functionality (with the front seats also being cooled). Additionally, the Q8 features four zone climate control, so everyone along for the ride can adjust the temperature to their liking. And in case the lateral scenery out the windows isn’t cutting it, the Q8 has a large glass panoramic sunroof that will let you bask in the views of the skies above.

Toss your bags in the rear cargo area and let the adventures begin. From the snow to the sunshine, the Q8 is the perfect companion for all four seasons. Combining performance, practicality, and style into a single vehicle proves the Q8 really can do it all. The next time you find yourself in Phoenix and want to tour the sights and sounds of the Grand Canyon State, look up Austin’s Audi Q8!
