Business review, new plans, & exciting updates for hosts

Turo UK Director, Xavier Collins, recently hosted a live webinar for our host community where he provided exclusive insights into the summers business performance and introduced the new protection plans for UK hosts. Here are some of the key takeaways.

Rebounding strongly from COVID-19

Like much of the travel industry, Turo has felt the sting of COVID-19 in the UK. We observed a drastic reduction in bookings that included six weeks of negative growth. However, as lockdown restrictions eased, business recovered and we hit record weeks as people opted for local road trips and staycations.

This summer, we have been busy launching exciting marketing initiatives to spread the word and bring in new guests for our hosts. You may have seen our major London bus campaign, read about us in The Guardian, Bloomberg, or The Telegraph, or even seen us pop up in your American Express, Citymapper, or Revolut app.

Two new protection plans for hosts

Upcoming developments for hosts

Turo is dedicated to enhancing the hosting experience. In the past year we’ve introduced a number of small but meaningful features that many hosts have been asking for: enabling hosts to respond to reviews, greater granularity in earnings reports, a new convenience fee for refuelling reimbursements, and access to our remote unlocking technology, Turo Go.

We have also invested in customer support by doubling the UK team and launching HyperWallet for lightning-fast claims payouts, and launched discounted support for car cleaning, buying, parking, and servicing.

We’re excited to announce several new developments for hosts to come in the following year:

  • Turo Go Digital, our app-enabled, hardware-less technology for seamless self-service-style check-in and checkout
  • A car buying guide designed to empower your decisions through Turo data
  • Compensation for trips cancelled as a result of guest verification issues
  • Removing cancellation fees for All-Star Hosts
  • Significantly enhanced automatic identity software for faster, higher-quality guest verifications and a streamlined verification flow for hosts
