Amanda S. and her colleague Lauren are both professional photographers in Chicago. They were headed to a photo conference for work, and took full advantage of free time before and after, for a bit of West Coast adventuring.

They picked up Mike’s Mercedes-Benz E-Class in Spokane, WA and leisurely cruised through the rolling, green hills of the eastern Washington Palouse to their destination: Moscow, ID. Along the way, they decided to stop for a hike in White Pine National Forest.

Between sessions at the conference, Amanda and Lauren fully enjoyed Moscow. They stumbled into a colorful consignment shop, had some excellent bagel sandwiches, and found their way into a gem shop, called Gem State Crystals Inc. One of the store employees, Evan chatted with them and even introduced them to shop’s resident rattlesnake, Buddy.

Finally, after the conference was over, Amanda and Lauren drove north to the resort town of Coeur d’Alene, to get away from it all. They tackled the Mineral Ridge trail, which rewarded them with a magical view of the lake, mountains, and forest.

After exploring the hills, they returned the car to Mike, and flew back to Chicago, cameras full of unforgettable images and rejuvenated from the verdant west. Check out all of Amanda’s snaps in her complete Travelogue.
