Where function meets fun

Throughout December, we’re showcasing some of the sweetest cars that Turo owners have to offer with our “12 cars of Christmas” blog series. Start ticking cars off your must-drive bucket list, or get inspired to rent out your killer ride and share the love with other car aficionados.

Sometimes you just need a car that’s up for anything, and that’s exactly what Nate has in his Tacoma. An outdoorsman who loves to ski and explore everything his home state of Colorado has to offer, he’s had to ease off his outdoor adventures since enrolling in law school.

“Renting it out is helping me maintain it while I’m in law school. It helps the car pay for itself” while he finishes up his studies, he says. But while he now hits the library instead of the slopes, his guests are certainly making the most of it.

“I rent it out a lot to families since it’s a four-seater. One family went to Moab, Utah over the summer, a couple guys took it on an epic mountain biking tour of Colorado, and I have another family taking it to Vail for Christmas,” he says.

Colorado is one of those evergreen destinations that’s extraordinary year round, and Nate’s truck is equipped to handle anything that comes its way. “It has awesome snow tires and a hardtop, so you can actually camp in the back. I once drove it from Seattle to Denver over three weeks — it’s great for long road trips,” he says. “I’ve also taken it skiing all over the West — Washington, California, Montana, Utah, Wyoming… It’s not deterred by anything; there’s nothing it can’t handle.”

There’s even an (optional) “Dog Mahal” in the back, for travelers who want to bring along their four-legged copilots (don’t worry, he always cleans it between uses).

A mecca for adventure-seekers of all stripes, Colorado draws travelers from around the world year-round, but it’s especially extraordinary in the powder-packed winter months.

Heading to the Rockies this winter? Consider Nate’s Tacoma for your mountain trek.
