András S.’s beautiful Malibu video
The Turo market is powered by an engine made up of thousands of dedicated hosts. Many are creative, business-minded people who manage multiple cars and have an eye for marketing. One such owner, András S., shot his very own video commercial for his cars, complete with stunning visuals and overhead drone shots.
András, who originally hails from Hungary, has been managing cars on Turo full-time for over a year. The veteran owner has hosted 500 trips in the Los Angeles area and shows no signs of slowing down. He says he thrives in the LA energy and keeps his ears open for the opportunities that the City of Angels tends to present.
When members of a European video crew reached out to András about booking a car, he recognized it as one of these opportunities. They needed a car to transport themselves and their video equipment to Las Vegas to shoot a music video for two weeks. András had the perfect car — one of his Dodge Grand Caravans. The roomy people-mover had the seating capacity and cargo space that the group needed for the job.
The guys took an interest in Turo and András’s business. Andras runs his fleet as Astro Car Group online, and his Instagram page has gained over 1,700 followers in just a few months. The video crew offered to help him with promotion to further develop his brand, and together they decided to shoot a commercial for Astro Car Group.
They spent two weeks preparing for the shoot. They scouted locations around Los Angeles and ordered custom license plates for the cars that would be in the video. There were five cars, five drivers, two actors, a video crew, and only one day to shoot the entire video, so the planning had to be precise.
They shot the video on a sunny day in idyllic Malibu to capture the beachy California vibe. Production began early that morning at 5 a.m., András says, and continued all day until about midnight. A couple of András’s friends stood in as the happy vacationing couple, joining András’s cars as the stars of the video. While the coastal roads of Malibu offered scenic backgrounds, the ocean wind created problems for their overhead drone shots. “It was a big job to coordinate the shots with so many cars,” András said. “It was a long day that proved stressful, but the result was amazing.”
Currently, András has seven cars that he shares in Los Angeles. He regularly adds to and switches up his roster to keep things interesting. András has built a strong base of repeat guests, so he keeps a range of vehicles to suit their varying needs. In addition to the Dodge Grand Caravans, he offers a couple economy cars like the Hyundai Elantra and Ford Focus.
András also has a couple of very popular sports cars — a red Porsche Boxster and a BMW 6 Series convertible. Both of these cars made appearances in his video, but the BMW has since received a facelift. To make the convertible more unique, András has added some BMW M badges and striking M striping across the hood. The distinctive look has made the drop-top a crowd favorite among András’s regular guests.
Always the savvy promoter, András jumps at opportunities to get his cars in front of a camera. Many of András’s cars have been featured in videos and photo shoots around LA. In addition to his own video, the BMW X5 has been used for multiple music videos and magazine shoots. The X5’s tastefully large black rims contrast with its white body to make for a handsome package.
András loves living in Los Angeles, and he often hosts guests who work in media and entertainment. He has found a way to tap into this resource and leverage the community to better his own business. Next time you’re in LA, hit up András and rent one of his stars from the silver screen.
