Turo

In an industry often defined by long lines, paperwork , and “or similar” swaps , Turo was built on a different premise: human hospitality. We believe that when you prioritize people over transactions, the journey becomes about more than just the destination.

For Ryan and Maddy, that journey led to a walk down the aisle.

The Turo trip that changed everything

Maddy originally signed up to be a Turo host to turn an asset into income. Like thousands of our hosts, she listed a car on the Turo marketplace, looking for a smart way to get more out of life–little did she know, her listing would end up changing it in unexpected ways.

Ryan was looking for a rental car in Chicago and came upon Maddy’s Rav4 listing. He didn’t know it yet, but by choosing Turo, he picked the best option for the trip of his life.

What started as a standard and simple Turo booking quickly evolved. Somewhere between communicating the logistics of the trip and a genuine conversation, a spark appeared. When Ryan returned the keys, he bypassed the usual “thank you” and took a chance: he asked Maddy out.

“In today’s world, I figured I might meet someone on an app – I just never imagined it would be a car rental one,” said Maddy. “Ryan and I love sharing our one-of-a-kind story and are so grateful we found each other through Turo.”

The ultimate trip extension

Over the next few years, the couple built a life defined by the same values that drive the Turo community. They explored the best restaurants in Chicago, planned weekend adventures, and perfected the art of cooking together at home.

Fast forward to fall 2025, Ryan took the driver’s seat and proposed to Maddy in Lincoln Park.

Stories like Ryan and Maddy’s remind us that our super-power is the connection between our 3.5 million guests and 150,000 hosts: Turo brings communities together.

When you rent with Turo, you aren’t just a number. You’re renting from neighbors, entrepreneurs, and—if the stars align—perhaps even your future “ride or die.”

Ryan and Maddy are set to say “I do” in the fall of 2026. As for their wedding transportation? We have a feeling they’ll skip the rental counter and find something perfect for them on Turo. Did someone say white vintage Rolls-Royce?
