2020\u2019s been a winding road full of bumps and roadblocks. Fortunately, the Turo community has kept its eyes on the road and its hands on the wheel while navigating the year\u2019s challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Instead of hosting international visitors, our community here in Canada started helping people get to work, run errands, and get to doctor\u2019s appointments. So while we couldn\u2019t gather for our usual community parties, we still wanted to celebrate our year of persistence at a distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On December 17, the Turo Canada community joined members of the team for a virtual community party in English. Our French event was held on December 16. Cedric Mathieu, VP and Head of Turo Canada, reflected on the business and the past year, highlighting the community\u2019s resilience. Despite a challenging year and a halt to international travel, Turo hosts managed 218,757 trip days and made an average of $713 per month in 2020. Plus, Turo made its way out to British Columbia<\/a> where BC hosts quickly jumped on board and got to work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Darren D.<\/a> in Vancouver and Dan G.<\/a> in Toronto joined the English session for a panel discussion that gave attendees insight into how an up-and-coming host and a veteran host manage their businesses, while Sasha B.<\/a> and Michael V.<\/a> in Montreal did the same in our French session. It was an informative panel that served as a jumping off point for our breakout groups later in the evening, where hosts had a chance to interact and ask questions in smaller groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The evening ended with some classic Turo trivia. Guests tested their general car and Turo knowledge to compete for a chance to win one of three prizes. The first place prize was a handheld Dyson V7 Trigger vacuum that went home with Darren D. and Sarah-Helene B. Congratulations to these hosts on scoring a faster way to clean up between trips!<\/p>\n\n\n\n While the evening was different than our usual host parties, it did allow us to experience something pretty cool. For the first time, Turo hosts from all across Canada had a chance to mix and mingle with hosts in other provinces. Hosts from BC could swap tips with those in Quebec and learn what it\u2019s like to host all across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This year wouldn\u2019t have been possible without our host community.
