A couple weeks ago, a handful of Turists from our Cambridge and San Francisco offices hopped on a plane to the Great White North to celebrate our Canadian launch here in Toronto, along with some of Canada\u2019s best and brightest. From rising stars in the blogosphere to our tech world cohorts to reporters with some of Toronto and Montreal\u2019s most esteemed news sources, the team was thrilled to visit the country that I\u2019ve been calling home for the past eight months \u2014 and meet, greet, and get to know the dynamic, forward-looking community that makes Toronto and Montreal so unique.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our Toronto launch event, featuring DJ K-OS<\/a><\/span>, was held at <\/span>Only One Gallery<\/span><\/a>, a cool, cavernous, garage-like event space in the heart of the Parkdale neighborhood of Toronto. Parkdale has a great vibe, with little coffee shops, art galleries, bars, and brownstone restaurants peppering the gritty-yet-hip Queen Street West and Dundas Street West. The event was as much a celebration of Canada as it was of Turo, featuring posters with some of Canada\u2019s best road trip routes and a giant Maple leaf made out of maple donuts (which, needless to say, was devoured by the night\u2019s end).<\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, it also featured some cool cars recently listed in Toronto including <\/span>Evgeny\u2019s Mitsubishi RVR<\/a>\u00a0(in the banner above!).<\/span><\/p>\n

The next day, we all flew to Montreal for our second event at <\/span>March\u00e9 Bonsecours<\/span><\/a> in old Montreal, a historic building that dates back to 1847 and \u201cis acknowledged as one of Canada\u2019s ten finest heritage buildings.\u201d The event was sleeker than the funkier Toronto event, and featured some of the choicest rides in Montreal, including a green 1969 Porsche 911 with a modified 2.4 flat six, and a red 1964 Porsche 356C Super90.<\/span><\/p>\n

All in all, I had a great time welcoming the Turo crew to Canada, celebrating our recent launch in the country with our Canadian friends, and getting to know the dynamic people doing extraordinary things in Ontario and Quebec.<\/p>\n
