Dreaming of the open road? Introducing Pitch a Trip, a program designed by Turo to help everyday Canadians and aspiring content creators turn their road trip dreams into reality. Today, we’re excited to highlight Gabriel’s adventure to Bruce Peninsula, where he and his friends reconnected over stunning fall and winter landscapes, cozy moments, and a memorable Tesla Model X experience with Turo.

The pitch

Gabriel and his friends envisioned a road trip that combined adventure with meaningful connection. Living in Montreal, they wanted to venture beyond their usual haunts and settled on the stunning Bruce Peninsula, known for its turquoise waters and rugged cliffs. To add a modern twist, they decided to try their first electric vehicle, a Tesla Model X, blending sleek design with sustainable travel.

The destination

The Bruce Peninsula is a breathtaking destination that offers rugged natural beauty and unforgettable views. With its turquoise waters and dramatic cliffs, it’s a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts and road trip lovers alike. For Gabriel and his friends, the journey there also included a stop in Toronto, where they discovered local charm and unexpected fun before heading north to experience the serene, snow-covered landscapes of the peninsula.

The journey

The group’s adventure began with a smooth drive to Toronto in the Tesla Model X, complete with heated seats and Tesla’s futuristic dashboard guiding their route. Their evening stop in Toronto turned into a memorable experience, thanks to a cozy Polish dive bar. Live Balkan folk music, an impromptu Western-themed party, and the warm energy of the city set the tone for a fun-filled road trip.

The next morning, the group set off for the Bruce Peninsula, eager to explore its iconic landscapes. Vibrant fall foliage surrounded them as they drove, but two hours into the trip, a surprise snowstorm transformed the scenery into a winter wonderland. The first snow of the season was magical, and despite reduced visibility, the Tesla’s all-wheel drive handled the snowy roads with ease.

Reaching Bruce Peninsula, the group paused to soak in the surreal views of cliffs and turquoise waters, even under overcast skies. While they had a brief moment of range anxiety as the battery dipped lower than expected, the Tesla’s GPS guided them to a nearby Supercharger with ease.

The charging stop became part of the adventure, allowing them to regroup, warm up, and enjoy a quick meal before continuing on to their cozy Airbnb for the night.

Their accommodations were the perfect retreat after a snowy day on the road. Drinks were poured, stories were shared, and they enjoyed the kind of laughter and connection that only comes with slowing down and being fully present.

Pro tips:

Plan for the weather: Unexpected snowstorms can change your itinerary, so pack accordingly and keep flexibility in your plans.

Consider EV limitations: While an EV is a fun experience, plan for extra charging stops and know that cold weather can reduce range.

Cherish the little moments: Whether it’s pulling over to admire the scenery or sharing laughs at a roadside stop, the journey is as important as the destination.

The Turo experience

Here’s what Gabriel had to say about his experience with Turo:

“The process is very streamlined and intuitive,” he shared, noting that the filters made it easy to find the Tesla Model X they wanted. Gabriel appreciated how Turo gave him control over the specific car he wanted. “Traditional car rental companies pale in comparison.” he added. The host’s excellent reviews and detailed introduction to the vehicle reassured him, setting the tone for a smooth and enjoyable experience. “He delivered the vehicle to my preferred location, gave me a thorough introduction to how it functions, and I felt ready for my trip.”
