Dreaming of the open road? Introducing Pitch a Trip, a program designed by Turo to help everyday Canadians and aspiring content creators turn their road trip dreams into reality. Today, we’re excited to share Amit’s springtime escape in British Columbia, where cherry blossoms, tulip fields, and coastal sunsets set the stage for a trip filled with creativity, colour, and connection.
The pitch
Amit and his wife wanted a road trip that was equal parts relaxing getaway and creative recharge. Mid-April offered the perfect opportunity: Vancouver’s cherry blossoms were in full bloom, and the Abbotsford Tulip Festival was painting the countryside in every colour imaginable. They booked a car through Turo — delivered right to Vancouver International Airport — giving them the freedom to explore the city, coast, and countryside at their own pace.
The destination
This trip was all about seasonal beauty. Vancouver’s parks and streets were draped in soft pink blossoms, from Richmond’s Larry Berg Flight Path Park to the charming residential lanes of West 22nd Avenue. Out in Abbotsford, rows of red, yellow, purple, and pink tulips stretched to the horizon, framed by snow-capped mountains. Coastal spots like Garry Point Park and Centennial Beach rounded out the itinerary with serene sunsets and ocean views.
The journey
Their first stop was just minutes from the airport: Larry Berg Flight Path Park, where cherry blossoms framed views of planes soaring overhead. From there, they wandered through Garry Point Park before checking into the Coast Tsawwassen Inn in Delta, a quieter base that let them skip the downtown hustle without sacrificing access to the city.
The next morning started with a golden sunrise at Queen Elizabeth Park, followed by a slow cruise through Stanley Park and residential neighbourhoods lined with blooming trees. They stopped often to take photos, film videos, and capture the fleeting beauty of spring.
The highlight came on their last day with a trip to the Abbotsford Tulip Festival. “It honestly looked unreal,” Amit said. Endless rows of vibrant flowers stretched across the fields, with mountains rising in the distance. They spent hours photographing, flying the drone, and soaking it all in before ending the trip with a peaceful coastal sunset.
Pro tips:
Time it right: Mid to late April is prime for cherry blossoms in Vancouver and tulips in Abbotsford. Check bloom trackers for updates.
Stay flexible: Some of the best finds are unexpected — like hidden blossom-filled streets.
Base outside downtown: Staying in Delta made parking easier and the pace more relaxed.
Take advantage of delivery: Having your Turo car waiting at the airport saves time and stress.
Don’t overpack your schedule: Leave space for slow moments and spontaneous stops.
The Turo experience
Here’s what Amit had to say about his experience with Turo:
“Our experience with Turo was honestly amazing. The booking process was extremely easy, and we found a car that met all our needs, especially since we were carrying a lot of photography gear. What really stood out, though, was our host. He was incredible. He delivered the car right to Vancouver International Airport, which made things so convenient for us after our flight. It was smooth, fast, and completely stress-free, no rental counter lines or waiting around. We just landed, grabbed our bags, and the car was ready to go. The vehicle itself was exactly what we needed: clean, comfortable, and reliable, with plenty of space for our stuff. It made exploring Vancouver and the surrounding areas so easy, especially since we were making a lot of spontaneous stops for photos and videos. Drop-off was just as seamless as pick-up. Our host was super friendly and responsive the whole time, which made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. Honestly, after this trip, we’d 100% choose Turo again. It gave us the flexibility to do our own thing at our own pace, and it just made the whole trip feel that much more enjoyable.”
