This International Women’s Month we’re highlighting Hannah Scott of Carma Car Hire — a Turo host that has turned her passion for cars into a flourishing business.
Hannah Scott has been a Turo host for the past nine months after relocating to Australia from the UK. She currently works as Business Manager at Tullamarine-based Carma Car Hire, where she helps grow the fleet and elevate the guest experience one trip at a time.
“I’ve always had a genuine passion for cars,” says Hannah. “I grew up fascinated by them and would happily spend entire days cleaning and maintaining my own.”
Carma Car Hire was able to make the most of the moment when the world slowed down during the COVID-19 lockdown. While a few cars sat parked at the owner’s other business, an idea quietly sparked an unexpected opportunity to rent them out, which led to the successful business it now is. Now, conveniently located just minutes from the Melbourne airport, the business has built a well-known reputation and recognisable brand in the local rental market.
For Hannah, the job was a natural fit.
“Stepping into this role felt natural. I love the operational side, the presentation of the fleet, and most of all, creating a great experience for guests.”

Momentum through Turo
For Hannah, listing the company’s cars on Turo was the beginning of a journey that has since seen the business flourish. Attracting guests from far and wide, bookings eventually grew, with the addition of more vehicles.
Today, Carma operates around 60 vehicles on Turo. Consistent demand and returning guests has given the business the confidence to continue expanding its fleet.
The positives of renting on Turo, however, aren’t just seen only in the numbers. By focusing heavily on improved vehicle presentation, maintenance standards, and most importantly, guest experience, Hannah is able to see the positive results of her work every day.
“Professionally, it has been incredibly rewarding,” she says. “Seeing our reviews improve and watching repeat bookings increase has been something I’m genuinely proud of. It’s motivating to see direct results from the work we put in every day.”

Enjoying the ride
For Hannah, the car is only part of the experience. The care shown to all guests is what goes the extra mile and separates Carma from a more traditional rental service. As Business Manager, she believes her role is about fostering real connections that make guests feel valued while they enjoy their time behind the wheel.
“What I love most about hosting on Turo is the connection between hosts and guests. People aren’t just hiring a car, they’re booking from real businesses and real people. Being able to hand over a car that’s spotless, well prepared, and seeing a guest excited for their trip is incredibly rewarding.

Ready, set, host!
Hannah has taken her love for cars and turned it into a business she’s proud of, fully embracing her place in the automotive world having been a host on Turo.
“Turo gives hosts the opportunity to build something on their own. It’s not just a listing platform, it’s a way to grow a brand,” said Hannah.
When asked what her advice would be to women considering hosting on Turo, she said:
“My advice would be to trust yourself and just start it. The automotive and car rental space can feel male dominated, but there is absolutely room for women to thrive in this industry. You don’t have to fit a stereotype to succeed. If you’re detail oriented, motivated, and willing to put in the work, you are more than capable. Hosting can be challenging, but it’s also exciting, empowering, and genuinely enjoyable.”
