Drive a Toyota

For all of life’s daily needs

Toyota is known around the globe for its practical, efficient, and dependable vehicles.

Hailing from Japan, the world's #1 car brand builds a wide range of sedans, sports cars, crossovers, and pickup trucks — many available in hybrid form with stellar gas mileage — that can fulfill anyone’s transport needs. Whether you’re looking for a long-term ride or a temporary replacement vehicle, a Toyota rental can get the job done without fuss.

Hybrid innovation

Toyota both pioneered and popularized hybrids, and remains a leader in the segment today. No longer just limited to the Prius, models with hybrid assistance have expanded across the range, meaning there’s a high-MPG version of most Toyota vehicles.

Budget friendly

Choosing a Toyota is a proven way to keep driving costs low. Toyotas are great on gas, simple to maintain, and rank at the top of the industry in reliability. This all helps make a Toyota inexpensive to drive in both the day-to-day and the long haul, making all those happy families and high customer reviews no surprise.

Surprisingly entertaining

No longer content with being dependable and efficient, Toyota has been making its cars more pleasurable in recent years. The results are evident in the increased agility of newer Camrys and RAV4s, and in the existence of dedicated rear-wheel-drive sports cars like the Supra and 86.

The smart way to get to where you’re going

Toyota is among the world’s best-selling automakers, and for good reason. With legendary durability, efficiency, and safety, you can drive a Toyota to take you anywhere.

Toyota Tacoma

While pickup trucks with sedan underpinnings have been springing up lately, the Tacoma proudly sticks to its tough, traditional roots. With a ladder frame and the classic truck stuff you're looking for, this rugged truck can haul and cruise in a way the new kids can’t. Rent a four-wheel-drive Tacoma TRD model for a worry-free weekend getaway to the mountains, beach, or desert.

Toyota RAV4

Excluding pickup trucks, this is America’s best-selling vehicle, and it’s easy to see why. An agreeable blend of competent handling, class-leading fuel efficiency, and useful back seat and cargo space, the Toyota RAV4 has few weaknesses as an all-around daily driver. Unique in its class, the RAV4 is also available as a hybrid, as well as a plug-in hybrid called the RAV4 Prime, which can go 42 miles on electric power alone.

Toyota Camry

Camrys have always been dependable and comfortable, but try out the current generation and you’ll find a stylish sedan with a healthy dose of agility and personality in the mix, giving the driver some enjoyment on family getaways. Its standard engine offers good performance and mileage, and this is among the last sedans to still offer a performance-boosting V6, boasting 301 horsepower. At the other end of the spectrum, the Camry Hybrid tops the class in gas mileage.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to rent a car on Turo?

To rent a car on Turo, you must create a Turo account, be 18 years old or older in the US, 21 years old or older in the UK, 23 years old or older in Canada, have a valid driver’s license, and get approved to drive on Turo. In France you must be 18 years old or older and have held a driver’s license for at least two years, longer for certain makes and models of vehicles. When you’re booking your first trip, you’ll go through a quick approval process by entering your driver’s license and some other information. In most cases, you’ll get approved immediately, and you’ll be set for future road trips, business trips, and family vacations!

Do I need my own insurance?

No, you don’t need personal insurance coverage to rent a car on Turo.

In the US, any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your protection plan, except in limited situations for trips booked in Maryland. When renting a car in the US, you’ll choose between three protection plans — Premier, Standard, or Minimum — to get the level of coverage that’s right for you. With each plan, you’re covered with third-party automobile liability insurance provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company.*

In New York state, you’ll also choose between Premier, Standard, or Minimum. With each plan, you’re covered with liability insurance of $1,250,000.** Protection plans for New York trips also include access to roadside assistance, priority phone support, and 24/7 customer assistance.

When renting a car in Canada, you’ll choose between three protection plans — Premier, Standard, or Minimum — and with each plan, you’re covered with liability insurance purchased fromEconomical Insurance Company in Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Quebec, and Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) in British Columbia — up to $2,000,000 for all plans.***

When renting a car in the United Kingdom, you’ll also choose between the Premier, Standard, and Minimum protection plans. Each plan includes different limits of financial responsibility for physical damage. Protection plans are not insurance; they are an agreement between Turo and guests about financial responsibility if there is damage to the host’s vehicle during a trip.

Distinct from protection plans, all trips come with third-party auto liability insurance from ERS (Syndicate 218 at Lloyd’s) managed by IQUW Syndicate Management Limited, arranged via Turo’s broker Lockton Companies LLP. IQUW and Lockton are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

How do I get discounts when renting a car?

On your Account page, make sure you’ve checked the box to receive email notifications, and enable push notifications from the Turo app in your phone settings — we’ll send you occasional promotions, discounts, and deals!

Additionally, frequent travelers in the United States can get rewarded with the loyalty bonus — earn a promo code for one bonus day when you take trips totaling 10 days in a 90-day period!**

How can I drive unlimited miles during my trip on Turo?

Some hosts offer unlimited distance for a trip; others set a daily distance limit. On the vehicle pages, you’ll see the total miles or kilometres you’re allowed to drive under the heading “Distance included.” You can find cars offering unlimited mileage with every trip by using the “Unlimited distance” filter.

What payment methods does Turo accept?

Turo accepts most credit cards issued by major financial institutions, including American Express and Discover cards, as well as debit cards with a Visa or Mastercard logo that are linked to a checking account.

Apple Pay and Google Pay on mobile devices are also accepted, but Turo does not accept cash or checks as valid payment methods.

What is the cancellation policy for guests on Turo?

You can cancel and get a full refund up to 24 hours before your trip starts. If you book a trip with less than 24 hours’ notice, you have one hour after booking to cancel free of charge. If you cancel after the free cancellation period ends, you will be charged a small cancellation fee.

What are the cleaning and safety policies on Turo?

Under the enhanced cleaning policy, hosts are required to clean and disinfect their vehicles thoroughly before every trip, so you can feel safe and comfortable behind the wheel. Turo hosts have access to training materials on enhanced cleaning practices, using the latest recommendations compiled from the CDC, EPA, WHO, and vehicle detailing experts, to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Is Turo a rental car company?

No. Unlike rental car companies, Turo is a peer-to-peer car rental marketplace where you can rent directly from trusted local car owners in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and France. Turo does not own any vehicles — Turo hosts share their own personal cars and set their own prices, discounts, vehicle availability, and delivery options.

Is there a fee to add additional drivers to my trip?

There is no fee or additional charge for adding a driver to your trip on Turo. Only the guest who booked the trip (primary driver) can request to add drivers; Turo hosts cannot do it for you. We encourage you to request to add authorized drivers before your trip starts, though guests in the US and Canada can request to add a driver while a trip is in progress with no extra charges. The primary driver must be present to pick up the rental car.

To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.

Are there Toyotas available near the airport?

Yes, there are Toyotas available on Turo at locations near airports across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and France. To save time and hassle, skip the rental counter and have your Toyota rental delivered to you. Set your hotel or the address of your vacation rental as your pickup location, and after arriving at your destination, take a taxi, Uber, Lyft, or shuttle service to the vehicle’s location.
