German-backed reliability

Brits love a Volkswagen — it’s the best-selling car brand in the UK, and VW car rental on Turo is popular, too. The appeal of Volkswagen cars isn’t hard to understand. Known for their solid foundations and German-built reliability, you know what you’re in for when you get behind the wheel of a VW.

Those who drive and love them often don’t stray from the brand — particularly from favourites like the Golf, the Polo, and Volkswagen’s unrivalled campervan, the preeminent VW California.

VWs: electrified

Volkswagen is well and truly in the EV game with a selection of fully electric cars in the form of its ID. models. And until the full suite of VW cars eventually goes fully electric, there are petrol, diesel, and hybrid vehicles to choose from.

Hot hatches and beyond

The Golf GTI is the ultimate hot hatchback, a breed of powerful small cars that blend the idea of a family hatchback with performance car credentials. But Volkswagen brings so much more to the table than sassy hatches — from city EVs to mega 4X4s, this brand has all bases covered.

Family favourites

A Volkswagen Golf or a VW Polo are perfect for short- and mid-distance journeys in the UK. If you’re planning a longer road trip for your VW rental, a seven-seater Tiguan or luxury Touareg will give you extra luggage space and boost your legroom to make the backseat passengers a little comfier.

Hire a VW on Turo

Thanks to the reputation and popularity of Volkswagens in the UK, Turo has plenty of VW cars to choose from. You’ll find performance models alongside solid runarounds in that unmistakable VW styling, where there’s always room for the family. Choosing a VW also means you get an excellent value drive that’s good quality, safe and reliable without sacrificing style or size.

Volkswagen Golf

VW’s star performer is a Volkswagen icon: the Golf. An unwaveringly favourite model, these classy compacts show no sign of being knocked off the top spot. While today’s VW Golf is almost unrecognisable from its 1974 beginnings when it famously succeeded the VW Beetle, it still stands for what it always has and blends efficiency and innovation with practicality, safety, and reliability.

Volkswagen Polo

A smaller hatchback than the Golf, the Polo is a super reliable supermini. You’ll love it for easily manoeuvring around UK cities and being easy to park in spaces that bigger cars avoid. It’s best as a car for you and a plus one, although there’s room for passengers in the back, too — particularly if you opt for a five-door model.

Volkswagen up!

VW’s entry-level car is deliberately compact (but some say deceptively spacious) that’s economical to run, and simple to park in the UK’s tightest multi-storeys or the most demanding parallel parking situations. This is a stand-out VW favourite — not least for the jazzier colours you’ll often see them in. For a great value, frill-free choice, the up! is unbeatable. To speed up the process, have your additional driver create a Turo account and get approved to drive before you request to add them. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and meet the age requirements for the car you’ve booked. You can request to add drivers via the “Trips” tab in the Turo app without additional driver charges or extra costs.
