Bold claim, but this is probably the best car on the entire Turo platform. I know just because it’s my car you think I’m biased but let me tell you why I know it’s simply the best car ever. For a start it has everything every other car has and more, like adaptive cruise control for example. This means it automatically slows down and stays in cruise mode on the M1 Pacific Highway. Change lanes and it’s back to your set cruising speed. It’s the perfect size comfortably fitting 5 people and heaps of luggage and wait for it, it’s got roof racks (plus handy tie down straps in the boot). All this in amazing fuel economy, it’ll actually drive from Ballina/Byron Gateway Airport to Sydney in the same tank of fuel, which is sort of pointless given you probably just flew in from Sydney. There are a ton of fun little finishes, like sporty low profile tyres, full set of safety features including collision avoidance, great sound system and Android/Apple CarPlay. Add to this that it’s a Skoda, the car worlds best kept secret that whilst it’s owned by VW and shares a lot of similarities it’s actually make in the Czech Republic. So it’s a better quality VW. Why is it better? Well unlike their West German cousins the folk at the Skoda factory remember how shitty cars were back in the USSR and it’s vasil states and they’re not taking anything for granted, making sure the built the best cars possible. I know this theory is highly suspect because VW has factories in the former East Germany, like Dresden, but for the sake of this Truo listing that’s way too nuanced. Lastly, the name. We need to address the name. I know Fabia sounds like a fabric softening detergent but bear with me because you really need to know that it derives from the Latin for ‘bean’, ‘Fabius’ or ‘Faba’, which many of you will know the v and the b can be interchangeable so we get ‘Fava’. Yep, it’s named after the Fava bean. It’s not some strange Czech version of ‘Fabulous’. Instead it’s also a girls name in the Czech Republic, in short you can think of it as a cute white bean. Now with all that background, oh, and did I mention it has roof racks, I think you can now see why my Skoda Fabia is actually the best car on Turo!
