overall, the trip went well and the cybertruck definitely delivered on space and being a fun, unique vehicle to drive, especially for a trip like coachella. i also really appreciated that it had fsd, which made longer drives much easier.
the main downside for me was not having access to the tesla app. every tesla i’ve rented in the past has included app access, and it’s a big part of what makes the experience feel complete. since i already use the app, i’m used to being able to preload my settings, control the temperature remotely, and check in on the vehicle.
having to rely only on the key card was honestly pretty inconvenient, especially during a festival where keeping track of a small card adds stress. it also meant i couldn’t pre-condition the car in the heat or monitor it remotely, which are features i personally find really valuable.
i completely understand this is someone else’s personal vehicle, but i do think offering app access would significantly improve the experience and better match what many people expect when renting a tesla.
